Free Markdown to HTML Converter

Paste Markdown on the left and the formatted result appears on the right as you type. No account required, no server involved. The conversion runs locally in your browser, so the text you paste never leaves your device, and closing the tab is all it takes to erase it.

LIVE SIDE BY SIDE PREVIEW

Every keystroke redraws the right panel, so you see headings, lists, tables and code blocks take shape while you write. Drag the divider in the middle to give either side more room. A word and character count sits above the panels, and the render time is shown at the bottom, which is useful when you paste something long.

CLEAN HTML SOURCE

Switch the right panel from Live Preview to HTML Source to read the markup the converter produced. Copy Text puts it on your clipboard in one click, ready to paste into a WordPress block, a newsletter template, a static site, or a CMS field that only accepts HTML. The output uses plain semantic tags, so it inherits the typography of whatever page you drop it into.

MD, HTML AND PDF DOWNLOAD

Download .md to keep the source for later editing, or .html for a finished file you can open in any browser and upload anywhere. Export to PDF when you need to send the formatted version to someone who will never touch Markdown, such as a client reviewing documentation or a colleague signing off on a draft.

SANITISED OUTPUT

The conversion strips script tags and inline event handlers from the result, so pasted Markdown cannot smuggle executable code into the HTML you copy out. This matters when the source came from somewhere you do not control: an AI chat export, a README from an unfamiliar repository, a document a client emailed over.

Is my text private?

Yes. The conversion happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing you paste is sent to a server, written to a database, or logged anywhere. You can disconnect from the internet and the converter still works.

What Markdown syntax is supported?

Headings, bold and italic, ordered and unordered lists, links, images, blockquotes, inline code, fenced code blocks with a language tag, tables, and horizontal rules. Nested lists and tables inside list items work as you would expect.

How do I convert a README.md file to HTML?

Open the file in any text editor, select everything, and paste it into the left panel. Repository READMEs convert cleanly because they lean on standard syntax. Then either copy the HTML source or download the .html file.

Can I convert a Markdown table to HTML?

Yes. Pipe tables convert to a proper table element with a header row, so you get real markup rather than a preformatted block. Alignment colons in the separator row are respected.

Why does my exported HTML look unstyled?

The download contains your content as semantic HTML without a stylesheet attached, which is what you want when pasting into a site that already has its own CSS. The preview panel applies its own typography so the document is readable while you edit.

Can I convert Markdown to PDF?

Yes. Use Download PDF on the preview side. The PDF reflects the rendered layout, including tables and code blocks, which makes it a quick way to turn notes or documentation into something printable.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The two panels stack vertically on small screens, and paste works from the mobile keyboard. Writing long documents is more comfortable on a desktop, but pasting and exporting is fine on mobile.

Is there a size limit on the document?

There is no hard cap. Conversion is fast enough that pasting a long article or a full documentation page redraws in a fraction of a second. Very large documents simply take slightly longer, and the render time at the bottom tells you how long.
